The Ubuntu Education Fund is a renowned organization that has been at the center of helping the needy children in the society. Over the years, they have helped more than 400,000 children from disadvantaged background. The Fund continues to provide its services to many other needy children in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
When Jacob Lief and Malizole “Banks” Gwaxula opened the school campus in Port Elizabeth, they believed that education would play a major role in enhancing the lives of the disadvantaged children. However, their operations did not go as planned given that many children could not realize their dreams in class. This way, they commissioned a research. When the results of the research were finalized, they found out that most of the children were coming from homes where they could not have three meals a day. In addition, some children were affected and infected with HIV. This situation made Jacob and Banks to enhance their offer to include nutrition, healthcare and home stability.
Andrew and the management of the Fund have been organizing for different funds drive on behalf of the institution. Recently, they hosted a gala dinner. The invitation-only event was attended by 300 guests who were treated to good music and delicious meals. Rolfe and his team had targeted to raise £600,000. At the end of the auspicious event, the Fund had raised more than £603,000. This money would be spent on increasing the Ubuntu Education Fund’s school capacity. Moreover, some resources shall be used for enhancing the pediatric clinic, which has been developed within the school compound. After all these projects have been completed, the management of the Fund posited that they would be able to enroll more needy students from Port Elizabeth and its environs.
